Letters: Sheriff makes urgent request

By SHERIFF JOEDY PENNINGTON,

Dear Editor,

I am asking for Newton County’s help. As you know the COVID-19 virus has been verified in Newton County. The demand for personal protection equipment (PPE) has put a huge strain on the suppliers and they are having a difficult time keeping up with suppling our medical facilities in the county. I am asking that any and all churches and any individuals that know how to sew to please start sewing mask for all of our medical facilities in Newton County. We have got to make sure that our doctors, nurses and ambulance crews have the equipment they need until the other supplies become available. Think about this, they are dealing with this ever day and if they contract the virus, who will take care of Newton County. Our doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and all healthcare workers need us right now. If you are able to help, all you have to do is make them and bring them to the Sheriff’s Office, and we will get them delivered. As I’ve said before we will get through this together. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Sheriff Joedy Pennington
