In a brief meeting held last Tuesday, the Newton Board of Aldermen breezed through approvals of routine items. The most time was spent discussing a proposed 13-cent increase per home on the city’s garbage rate. In addition to the garbage rate, a $3 increase on service charges was also proposed. However, the subject was tabled until the next meeting.

•Discussed sending a courtesy letter to the property owner at 406 Wood Street.
