Members of the Union High School Class of 1957 gathered on Monday, May 6, to celebrate 67 years since the original class of 43 members graduated. Class President Mack Shelton and Class Organizer Jeanette Beevers Thrash organized the lunch meeting at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Union. Those attending were (from the left) Mack Shelton of Brandon, Jeanette Beevers Thrash of Meridian, Jean Foster Zimmer of Rock Spring, Georgia, Johnnie Neil Smith of Monticello, Georgia, Fred Allen Barfoot of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Becky Franklin Eichelberger of Morton, and Perry Willis Smith of Byram. Twenty-two members are still living, in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Pennsylvania, and 21 are deceased. Plans are underway to mark year 68 on Monday April 28, 2025, at the same place in Union. UHS Classes of 1958 and 1959 are invited to join this class, a joint practice for several years in the past.
