Baseball: Bobcats clinch home advantage in first round

The Sebastopol Bobcats finished as the No. 2 seed out of division play and will have home-field advantage in the Class 1A playoffs that begin this week.

Sebastopol finished the regular season as they lost 12-2 to Puckett on Tuesday and then lost 4-0 to Ethel on Thursday.

Baseball: NCA falls twice to close regular season

The Newton County Academy baseball team finished the regular season this week.

The Generals lost two games as they prepared for the Class 3A playoffs as they lost 5-2 to Puckett on Monday and 13-1 to Wayne on Friday.

Softball: Lady Cougars rally to beat Lake heading into playoffs

The Newton County Lady Cougars extended their win streak to 15 games as they finished off the regular season.

The Lady Cougars finished off Division 5-4A play with a 14-0 win over Northeast Jones and then beat Lake 6-5 on Saturday in a battle of division champions.

Baseball: Lake heads to playoffs after 1-2 week

The Lake baseball team lost two out of three games to finish the regular season last week.

The Hornets dropped a tough 7-6 decision to rival Scott Central on Monday and then bounced back to beat Union 10-0 on Tuesday. Lake then dropped a 13-4 decision to Southeast Lauderdale on Thursday to finish the regular season.
