The Newton County Academy softball team only got in one game last week but made it count.

The Lady Generals easily dispatched Discovery Christian last week, winning 12-0 on Monday.

NCA was scheduled to play the Meridian HomeSchool Lady Flyers on Monday and then host Prentiss Christian on Tuesday.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Cougars Lose Late Lead in Tough Battle Against Poplarville

POPLARVILLE 34, COUNTY 31

Newton County took the lead three different times in the second half against Poplarville.

But each time the Cougars took the lead, the Hornets answered with a big play to take a 34-31 win in a Class 4A matchup on Friday.

County falls to 0-3 on the season and will host Union on Friday.
