VOLLEYBALL: Lake goes 2-1 as Lady Hornets improve

The Lake volleyball team continued its strong play this week, winning two more matches.

Lake opened the week with a 3-0 win over Pisgah and a 3-0 win over Pelahatchie. Lake then lost 3-1 to Class 4A Choctaw Central.

Sebastopol’s Adarius McDougle will always remember his first game at quarterback for the Bobcats.

McDougle had a career night, scoring five rushing touchdowns and throwing another one as the Bobcats took a 40-20 win over McAdams on Friday night.

Newton County football coach Bobby Bass believes in playing a tough non-division schedule.

He got his wish on Friday night as visiting Winona showed why they are the favorites to win Class 3A with a 47-14 win over Newton County.

Football: Generals take care of business

It wasn’t much of a contest for Newton County Academy on Friday night.

But NCA coach Stevie Nelson said it was better than sitting at home.

The Generals had little trouble with Faith Christian as they took a 51-18 win on Friday night.
