Union Basketball: Jackets Squads Fall in District Play

The Union basketball teams continued to struggle in district play as they both dropped a pair of games last week.

The Union girls lost 40-31 to St. Andrew’s and 51-18 to Southeast Lauderdale.

The Union boys lost 71-44 to St. Andrew’s and 67-39 to Southeast Lauderdale.

Sebastopol Basketball: Lady Bobcats Win Pair of District Games

The Sebastopol Lady Bobcats picked up a pair of wins last week to finish district play.

The Lady Bobcats beat Noxapater 62-47 and then beat Leake County 57-33 to finish the regular season.

The Bobcats split a pair of games last week, beating Noxapater 49-38 while falling 56-41 to Leake County.

Newton County Basketball: Cougars Split With NE Lauderdale, Enter Tournament Play Seeded Third

The Newton County basketball teams finished out the regular season by splitting a pair of games with Northeast Lauderdale last week.

The Lady Cougars fell 38-35 to the Lady Trojans while the Cougars took a 40-35 win over the Trojans.

Newton County Academy Basketball: Lady Generals Win Two in Class 2A North State Tournament

The Newton County Academy girls basketball team get to play for another week.

The Lady Generals won two games in the Class 2A North State Tournament last week, beating Deer Creek 52-16 and Indianola 32-24. They then lost 55-28 to Central Holmes and 34-26 to Manchester in the Division II bracket.
