Newton: City of Newton cleanup set for Saturday

The City of Newton quarterly cleanup is set for Saturday.

Those interested in volunteering to help clean up the city are asked to meet at City Hall at 8 a.m. Saturday. The city will be providing trash bags and water for the participants.

Homecoming 2023: Newton County High School

Newton County High School will celebrate Homecoming on Friday, October 20, against Leake Central. Game time is 7 p.m. at Cougar Stadium. During Halftime Festivities, the 2023 Homecoming Court will be introduced, and the 2023 Homecoming Queen will be named.

Alsup makes hole-in-one

Friday the 13th was a lucky day for Newton Country Club member Nick Alsup, as he made a hole-in-one at Newton Country Club on Oct. 13.

Alsup made the shot on Newton Country Club’s Hole No. 4, a Par-3, 195 yard hole. He used a 4 Hybrid and hit a Titleist Pro V1X. It was witnessed by Stephen Harris and Brandon Gray.
