Congratulations to Angelique Williams for moving up a level in her math studies at Union Elementary. Also, late happy birthday wishes are in order for her.
The school field trip to Canton was on her birthday. From the pictures posted on Facebook, I would say she had a very happy birthday. Her big sister, Jade Welch, celebrated her 15th birthday on Dec. 4. She is proud of her little sister.
Union Elementary teacher, Mrs. Velma Rainer, has been selected as District Teacher of the Year. Congratulations to you, Mrs. Rainer.
Redeemer Baptist Church will move the morning service up to begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve.
I need your prayers. Yesterday I picked up Travis in Brandon and brought him here for a few days. Just before I got to his house, I started having colored streaks at the outer edge of my left eye. A few minutes later a floater appeared. I am still having the problem this morning after a good night’s sleep. I have an appointment with Dr. Eakes tomorrow (Tuesday) and I will get him to check it. Eye problems can go hand in hand with diabetes. Please pray that it isn’t serious and will pass over.
I know you all are stressfully excited, with Christmas breathing down our necks. It is a joyful time, with family and friends and excited children, all celebrating because a child was born to be our savior more than 2,000 years ago. Even if that is not your reason for celebrating, the fact is, this is the reason we have Christmas. Try to have peace within yourselves as you prepare and celebrate, and keep your celebrations worthy of such a gift as Jesus gave.
Also, be in prayer for so many of us who will be traveling for Christmas. It can be treacherous on the streets this time of year.
Send me your reports of parties, church services, announcements of watch night services for New Years Eve, any and everything you can report.
Until next week, stay safe, be careful and blessed, And have a merry Christmas, everyone!
