Welcome to “The Little Town with a Big Heart”
MS Blood Services will have a blood drive for Norman Snowden on April 10, 2020, beginning from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Hickory Baptist Church. They will be taking any type of blood. Please donate to this important cause!
Easter Sunday is on April 12 this year. Celebrated around the world, Easter is one of the most important holidays in the Christian religion. Easter Holiday celebrates the belief that Christ resurrected from the dead. But this year, Easter celebrations will look a lot different. Most churches will not be having Easter Services on Easter Sunday, they will be doing the service online because of the coronavirus crisis. The biblical story of Easter says that three days after Jesus was murdered, he arose, and the women who checked on his tomb Easter morning found it empty. Easter also marks the end of Holy Week, the last week of Lent.
Many churches are using the internet to go live to bring the sermons to each one that has the internet. I have listened to many on Sunday and Wednesday nights.

Recipe for the Week:
Pizza Pasta Casserole
Ingredients: 1 lb of ground beef (or Italian Sausage), 6 ounces pepperoni, 3 cups of Mozzarella cheese, 28-ounce can of crushed tomatoes (or two 15-ounce cans of crushed tomatoes), 1 teaspoon of garlic salt, 1 Tablespoon of Italian Seasoning, 16 ounces of penne pasta, 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese.
Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brown the ground beef and drain any sausage. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and the garlic salt. Stir to combine. Meanwhile boil pasta according to directions, but cook to al dente, meaning you want the pasta to be firm and undercooked. Drain pasta and pour half of the pasta in a 9- by 13-inch baking dish. Spoon half the meat mixture over the pasta. Top with half the Mozzarella cheese. Lay half the pepperonis on top. Then layer the remaining pasta, meat sauce, cheese and pepperoni. Sprinkle the parmesan cheese on top. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes until bubbly and brown. Allow to cool for 5 minutes and then serve.
Recipe Notes: This pizza pasta casserole freezes great so you can easily make two batches and toss one in the freezer for an easy freezer meal. A delicious time saver!
How to Freeze Easy Pizza Casserole Recipe:
Make the easy pizza pasta casserole recipe in a tin foil pan, according to direction above. However, instead of baking, cover with foil and allow to cool. Once cooled, freeze. To bake, remove from freezer the day before you want to eat it and allow it to thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour covered, and 15 minutes uncovered.
