I awoke Saturday morning to a wonderfully crisp, cool morning that reeked of fall.
All nature seemed alive with the change of seasons, as I enjoyed coffee on my front porch, sipping slowly, savoring every swallow and every moment of the brief time of relaxation before the bold shock of housecleaning. It is an evil routine that must be done! In order to get everything done, I work a while, then rest a double-while.
When I feel I have reached my goal for the day, I finish the day with relaxation. One day last week, I trimmed branches that grew from acorns and nuts planted among my azaleas and other plants, compliments of the neighborhood squirrels.
Sunday afternoon I got out in the gorgeous afternoon to pick those limbs and twigs from my lawn and move them to the front for trash pick-up. I was exhausted but with a keen sense of accomplishment for my weekend’s work. I will have a lot more to get done before next Saturday’s Writers Guild meeting, but I did get a firm start.
The 2017 Union High School Homecoming Queen is Parker Breland. Congratulations to Parker and all of the Maids. You were all winners to be among the numbers.
The Fall Book Fair for Union Public School District will begin Oct. 2 through Oct. 6, Oct. 9 and Oct. 10. The family event will be Oct. 2 from 3:30-6 p.m. Shopping may also be done online until Oct. 20. All proceeds help the library purchase books and materials for the students to use.
There will be a meeting of the Newton/Neshoba Writers Guild, Saturday, Oct. 7 at my home. Use the same method of contact as to report news, (at the end of this article) if you have questions or need directions to my home. I hope we have a good group to show up Saturday, after taking part of the summer off to give all a chance to enjoy the longer days of summer with families. I look forward to seeing as many here as possible. If you have an interest in writing or already are a published author, please come. We can use your input.
My dear friend and fellow Guild member, Pamela Carron, gave a lecture at the M R Davis Public Library at Southaven, on Saturday, Sept. 30. She spoke about getting started at being an author. She also spent some valued time with her cousin, Brenda Wells, while she was there.
I learned this week that we lost a friend and fellow Writers Guild member, June Davis Davidson, on Sept. 14. She had published four books, the last one was Stores of Mississippi. She was in the Meridian Chapter, but she visited our local chapter when she could. We will miss her. She was a great lady.
The Lord bless and keep you and yours under the shelter of his protection and grace until next week.
