“What motivates you?”
As we enter different phases of life, it is extremely common to question “what’s happening now?” and “how do I figure what to do now in my life?” This can include both challenging and fulfilling experiences.
Regardless of who you are or what phase of life you are in, it is likely that there are perplexing situations in life that are being encountered. Perhaps there are health issues, family changes, or other adjustments that you are facing. Amazingly, we were created with the ability to adapt to change. The fact that we are here today is evidence of that.
So, how do I adapt to now? German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche, is quoted as saying, “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” This thought shows us that we can adjust to current issues (“how”) with new motivations (“whys”).
What is your “why”? What motivates you in spite of circumstances? My “why” right now may not be that same as it was 20 years ago. My “why” right now may help me make sense of circumstances and adapt as I have so many times before.
Consider what motivates you. Your “why” may be of a spiritual origin. Or it may be from a need to be present and make a difference. As you find your “why”, you will be able to handle all of the “hows” of your life.
