The current generation of high school and college students will be the next generation to enter the workforce. They will be doctors, lawyers, medical professionals, business professional and many more professions. Many high schools sponsor clubs to foster development in these areas. Union High School and Union Middle School both sponsor a Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club for students to participate in. They compete in several competitions throughout the school year and help with many events as well. For example, in October, the Union FLBA clubs hold a fall festival each year. The 2019 Fall Festival will be held on October 19th from 6-8 p.m. in the Old “New” Gym.
The 2019 Fall Festival will raise money for Union’s FBLA clubs in a variety of ways. Admissions to the Fall Festival costs one ticket for $1, fifteen tickets for $10 and an armband for $20. The armband will give the wearer unlimited use for all events at the Fall Festival. The Fall Festival will also include several different activities to participate in. There will be a cake walk, a haunted school bus, a prize wheel, a petting zoo and many other things. Concessions will also be sold by T&J Concessions, and children are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes.
One of the other big attractions of the Fall Festival is the gift basket raffles. These are several baskets that the FBLA clubs are raffling off to four lucky winners. One large basket and three small baskets will be raffled off by the FBLA clubs. Each basket will include a variety of things from roses and gift cards to a handmade quilt. There will also be raffles for several different individual items. These consist mostly of gift cards, but they also offer a few different items. Gift baskets and raffles serve as great ways for the Union FBLA clubs to raise money, and Union residents can even win something for themselves.
The 2019 Fall Festival serves as great family fun for children, parents and students while raising money for the Union FBLA clubs. With the help of their sponsors, these future business leaders use their skills as young entrepreneurs to organize and operate the Fall Festival. For more information about any of the events, raffles or the festival in general, an FBLA member or the Union Public School District’s Facebook page can provide that. Everyone should support Union’s local school and school organizations as these students are the future generation of leaders.
