Flora Overstreet visited with her sister Glenda Crain, Joey, Zoe’ and Jace Crain from Franklinton, La. over the weekend, for their Christmas get together on Sunday. Around 35 was present, there was probably that many that wasn’t there. We had plenty of food and desserts. Enjoyed seeing everyone from sister, sister in law, nieces, nephews and cousins. I got to see a first cousin from Mandeville, La., and a classmate I graduated with in 1961 at the lighting of Christmas trees in Franklinton which was in memory of a loved one. Which my sister Glenda, had one in memory of her husband, Joe Crain, I enjoyed being with family and friends. I also visited a few minutes with Bobby Overstreet (Donald’s cousin).

Recipe for the Week: Slow-Cooker Honey-Garlic BBQ Meatballs
Ingredients: 2lb frozen cooked meatballs, thawed, 2bottles (18 oz each) barbecue sauce. 1tablespoon honey, 2tablespoons finely chopped garlic (about 8 cloves)
Directions: 1. Spray 3 to 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Add meatballs to slow cooker. In medium bowl, mix barbecue sauce, honey and garlic, mixing well. Pour on top of meatballs in slow cooker; stir to coat. 3. Cover; cook on High heat setting 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until thermometer inserted in center of meatball reads 165°F. Stir before serving to evenly coat meatballs in barbecue sauce mixture. For proper food safety, be sure meatballs are thawed before adding to slow cooker. Barbecue sauces vary significantly in flavor. We recommend an original sweet barbecue sauce for this recipe.
