Congratulations to the Chunky Baptist Church 2019 Chili Cook-Off champion, Robbie Vickers. Robbie’s chili was voted No. 1 out of nine chili competitors.
If you were able to be a part of the cook off, I’m sure you got to eat some good food. If you missed it, don’t miss out on chili completely. Make your own.
Better yet, get other family members, friends or neighbors to make some, too.
Have a competition of your own. Winner gets bragging rights until you all decide to do it again.
Make enough to share and give some away. I’m sure you know someone who could use a bowl of chili and a visit from a friend. Plan to share your blessings with others.
One way to do that is by giving through programs like Operation Christmas Child, which sends boxes of needed items and toys to children in other countries with high poverty levels. Each recipient finds out someone they don’t know cares about them enough to give to them these things, along with a comic book in their native language that explains the gifts were given in the name of Jesus, because he gave the greatest gift of all.
Other opportunities are available nearby to give to families or individuals, to help in many ways during the holiday season. It doesn’t really matter which one you choose, but please choose something, some way to give.
No matter how much or how little you have, giving to others is a blessing for the recipient and for you, the giver.
So, give freely, with a glad heart. Whether it’s money, toys, time or a bowl of chili, you’ll be glad you did.
