As a member of a church, it is our job to pray for our church. Our churches need constant prayer in asking God to let His spirit always be welcomed there and the congregation feel Him.
In this way, every Sunday will feel like revival! And revival was just what the small congregation of Pinckney Baptist Church felt this pass Sunday night. It was a typical Sunday night service as each
member requested a song for the director to call out and direct. We were finishing a verse of a hymn when I noticed something moving on the step of the alter beside the piano. I fixed my eyes heavily on the matter, and I desperately tried to remain calm after realizing what the moving object was.
Instead of immediately throwing my hymnal and flying over pews, I waited for the director to end the hymn to signal him of the unwanted guest that laid within a foot from him. After getting his attention, he realized that I was pointing at the snake resting on the altar’s step. Apparently, the creature had slithered from out from the piano during our song service. It was only about 6-7 inches long, but our newly found “Snake catching and killing” committee discovered it was a baby ground rattler.
Of course, the question that now arises is “Where is mama and the rest?” As much of us are now very paranoid over the matter, we will all be very attentive in the services to come, with specific focus on the altar. This is just a prime example of how God doesn’t always answer prayers the way we want them answered sometimes!
After 72 days in the hospital, Mr. Tommy Walters and his wife are finally home and continuing to improve.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
