We are so thankful that the weather on Wednesday night, Feb. 5, didn’t get as bad as predicted. Our God is so good to us, we need to take time out of our busy schedule to thank him every day. Some around the state weren’t as blessed.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Jeffray “Ray” Walker, 58, of Hickory. Funeral Services were held 11 a.m. in the chapel of Newton County Funeral Home. Burial was held in Hickory City Cemetery.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Henry Herbert Johnson, 98, of Hickory, who passed away on Thursday, February 6. Services were held on Friday, February 7, at Newton County Funeral Home- North with funeral services immediately following.

Recipe for the Week: Easy Peach Cobbler:
Ingredients: 2 pounds frozen peaches, 1 box yellow cake mix, 1 can diet 7up or Sprite.
Directions: Spread frozen peaches in Pam sprayed 13- by 9-inch pan. Sprinkle dry cake mix over peaches. Pour 7up over cake mix. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Uncover and bake 40 Minutes. Enjoy!
