Welcome to The Little Town with a Big Heart”
Inspiration for the week: Home is where the heart is! – by Al Albrecht
Home is where the heart is, where love should be all the time, respect and kindness, and peace and joy, that you can say are mine. It’s where in times of illness, concern comes from the heart, and little acts of goodness, will always be a part. Home is where there’s hope and joy, and laughter does abound. No matter when, or where, or how, that’s where it’s always found. Don’t ever let the blues come in, just pray them out the door, just try your best, and keep right on, you’ll be a winner sure. Home is filled with gladness, sadness is never
there. There are miles and miles of praises, you hear them everywhere. So, keep looking up and be cheerful, as cheerful as you can be, That’s the key to never-ending love, in a home for all to see. Home is where the “River of Love” flows like a mighty stream, Its banks are full to overflowing, like a never-ending dream. Yes, times may come and times may go, but let me tell you this, the home where God is worshipped, is the home that He will bless. So, hang in there, dear friend of mine, it’s worth it all the time, from early morn til eventide, with God always by your side. Sure, man you picked a winner, with me you must agree, just take time out, they will get better, pray and wait and see.
Services at Grace United Baptist Church were awesome on Sunday with deacon ordination and an awesome message by Bro Jamie.
Wayne, Katie, Mary Claire and Laurel Overstreet stopped by on their way back to Georgia and visited with Wayne’s mom, Flora and sister, Sandra Walker and Johnny Walker, on Friday and ate lunch with them. I sure was glad to see them even if wasn’t for a few hours. They spent Thanksgiving with Katie’s mom at McComb. before heading back home.

Recipe of the week
Candied Sweet Potatoes with Marshmallows and Pecans
Three pounds sweet potatoes (about 5 to 6), six tablespoons unsalted butter, separated, 1/4 cup brown sugar + 2 teaspoons, 1/4 cup milk, 1/2 teaspoon ginger, 1/4 cup flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 cup chopped pecans, Zest and juice of one orange, 3 cups mini marshmallows.
Directions: Step 1: Prepare sweet potatoes. Peel and cube the sweet potatoes into about 2-inch pieces. Transfer to a large stock pot, fill with water and bring to a boil. Simmer for about 10 minutes, until the sweet potatoes are very soft. Drain the water. Pour the sweet potatoes into a large bowl and mash, along with 2 tablespoons of butter, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and the milk.
Step 2: Prepare marshmallow topping. Combine remaining ingredients (except the marshmallows) in a small mixing bowl: ginger, brown sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, pecans plus the zest and juice of an orange.
Step 3: Layer sweet potatoes and topping. Transfer mashed sweet potatoes to a buttered casserole dish. Add half the brown sugar topping. Add half of your marshmallows. Repeat.
Step 4: Bake the assembled sweet potato casserole at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes, until the buttery brown sugar has melted completely and the marshmallows are toasted and gooey.
