Newton County MSU Alumni February Meeting
The Newton County Chapter of the Mississippi State Alumni Association will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 in the East Central Community College Cafeteria Gold Room. All alumni, friends of MSU and Bulldog fans are invited to attend. Those wishing to get dinner at the cafeteria are advised to come early.
Union Summer Recreation
Registration for the Summer League is underway. You may register at the Union City Hall until Feb. 22. The cost will be $45 for ages 4-12, and this does not include uniforms. For more information, you may call 601-774-9422.
Loose Caboose Festival Vendor Applications available now
The Newton Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its 16th Annual Loose Caboose Arts and Crafts Festival on Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Newton. If you are interested in being a Craft or Food Vendor, applications can be found online at www.newtonchamberms.com or available inside the Newton Chamber’s office in the Newton Depot, 128 S. ECCC Black History Month Program
East Central Community College will hold its annual Black History Month program Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, on the Decatur campus. Activities begin at 7 p.m. in the Vickers Fine Arts Center auditorium.
There is no charge for admission.
Philadelphia Mayor James Young will serve as guest speaker. The ECCC Gospel Choir sponsors the Black History Program and will also perform. Mrs. Brenda Johnson serves as gospel choir sponsor.

NMSD Healthy Living Fair
Newton Municipal School District and the City of Newton invite everyone to participate in the Healthy Living Fair held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the Historic Newton Depot. Newton County Pre-K Registration
Parents and guardians interested in their 4-year-old child (child must be 4 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2019) being tested for the 2019-2020 Newton County Elementary School pre-kindergarten program, must come to Newton County Elementary main office to register the child between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. March 4-8. Two current proofs of residency, birth certificate, Immunization Form 121, and child’s social security card are required for registration. Crossroads Head Start Center 2019-2020 Applications
Crossroads Head Start/Early Head Start Center will be opening an Early Head Start Classroom in March 2019. The focus of services offered will be toddlers 13-24 months. The Crossroads Head Start Center is also accepting applications for the 2019-20 school year. If you are interested in your child participating in either of these programs, come to Crossroads Head Start/Early Head Start Center, 401 E. Railroad Street, Newton. Hours are 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
