Busy Hands Quilting Guild
The June meeting of Busy Hands Quilting Guild will be held 9:30 a.m. June 11 at the Fellowship Hall of Decatur United Methodist Church. We will be working on our charity project, as we are trying to complete the 60 lap quilts that are needed. We have enough of the walker totes made.
This is a potluck lunch day so please bring your favorite dish.

American Legion Post 89 Auxiliary
The Auxiliary of Post 89 Newton County American Legion will meet 6:30 p.m. June 11, at the Hut on Highway 15 South of Decatur. Please bring a dish for potluck supper. After the june meeting, our next meeting will be in August on the second Tuesday of the month.

Union Day
The Union Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to attend its annual Union Day festival, Saturday, June 15, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The festival will feature a car show, parade, food and craft vendors, political speeches, a talent show and entertainment.
Union Public Library Children’s Story Time
The Union Public Library will host a Children’s Story Time each Friday at 10 a.m. All children are invited to attend.
Thomas Family 77th Reunion
The descendants of John Thomas, Father of William Washington Thomas and Catherine Phillips Thomas, will hold the annual Thomas Family Reunion at the William Edward Thomas Home Place, 10491 CR 133, Philadelphia, on Saturday, June 8 at 11:30 a.m. We hope each of you will plan to come, bring a dish and share lunch. If you have any old pictures or any other family information we can share, it will be fun and informative. We look forward to enjoying a day of fun and fellowship with you.
67th Annual Newton Chamber Banquet
Join us on Thursday, June 6th for our 67th Annual Newton Chamber of Commerce Banquet! We will start the evening at 5:30 p.m. with a Silent Auction, and dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. Our guest apeaker is Lieutenant Colonel David S. Alexander, Deputy Personnel Officer, MSARNG who will speak about the 1-204th Air Defense Artillery. Entertainment will be a Musical Quartet composed of Randy Cuchens, Victor Coker, Jeff Hardy, Michael Ledlow and Joe Pugh. Tickets are $20 each and are on sale until May 26, 2019. Newton Theatre Company Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the membership of the Newton Theatre Company will be held June 24 at the Roxy Theatre in downtown Newton at 6 p.m. Directors will be elected and amendments to the bylaws will be presented for approval. The annual meeting is open to all current members.
Fundraiser Porch Sale
A Fundraiser Porch Sale will be held at the Historic McElroy-Hoye House, 400 E. Church St., Newton, May 30-June 1. Look for signs.
Turkey Creek Fireworks Show
The annual Fourth of July Fireworks show at Turkey Creek will be held July 3, and feature a bounce house, face painting and concessions. Decatur Volunteer Fire Department will begin selling hamburgers and hotdogs at 5 p.m., with fireworks beginning at 9 p.m. The park will be open all day for visitors to arrive. The cost is $10 per vehicle.
Newton County MSU Alumni February Meeting
The Newton County Chapter of the Mississippi State Alumni Association will meet at 6 p.m. July 18, at the Union Station Fish House. All alumni, friends of MSU and Bulldog fans are invited to attend.
Hope Missions Volunteer Opportunity
Hope Missions Newton Store is soliciting volunteers to assist with merchandise cleanup, stocking, sorting, cleaning, organizing and even building projects.
