February Meeting
The Newton County Chapter of the Mississippi State Alumni Association will meet at 6 p.m. March 21 at Zach Garvin’s Steakhouse, Newton. All alumni, friends of MSU and Bulldog fans are invited to attend.
Crossroads Head Start Center
2019-2020 Applications
Crossroads Head Start/Early Head Start Center will be opening an Early Head Start Classroom in March 2019. The focus of services offered will be toddlers 13-24 months. The Crossroads Head Start Center is also accepting applications for the 2019-20 school year. If you are interested in your child participating in either of these programs, come to Crossroads Head Start/Early Head Start Center, 401 E. Railroad Street, Newton. Hours are 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Union Chamber Membership
Banquet
The Union Chamber of Commerce Annual Membership Banquet will be held Saturday, March 23 at 6 p.m. in the Family Life Center at Union First Baptist Church. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at Union Supply Company, State Farm Union and Union Piggly Wiggle, or from board members. For more information, call 601-774-9586.
Hope Missions Senior Social Hour
Hope Missions Newton Store invites all senior citizens to the revamped Senior Social Hour, each Wednesday from noon until 1 p.m. beginning March 20. There will be games, prizes, etc. This is a time of community fellowship. For more information, contact M. Pugh at 601-627-9857.

Hope Missions Newton Store is soliciting volunteers to assist with merchandise cleanup, stocking, sorting, cleaning, organizing and even building projects. This would be a great opportunity for community service credit. We are located at 117 N. Main St., the old Strebeck location. For more information call 601-627-9857.

Friends of the Library Meeting
The Friends of the library will meet Monday, March 25 at 7 p.m. at the Union Public Library. Officer elections will be held along with other business.
All past, present and potential members of Friends of the Library are invited to attend.

Crazy Oil Ladies
Young Living Crazy Oil Ladies invite everyone to come join them Friday, March 29 at 10 a.m. at the Newton Public Library to learn about essential oils. All those curious about essential oils and wanting to learn more are encouraged to attend. Be sure to register for door prizes and bring a friend.
The 1st Decatur Heritage Festival
The 1st Decatur Heritage Festival, held at 10th Ave. near East Central Alternative School (formally known as C.H. Boler School), will consist of a Fun 5K bike/run/walk, arts and craft vendors, spoken words, local politician, local entrepreneur, musicians and many more. The Festival will be held on April 20 from 7:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
The purpose of this festival is to celebrate special moments with relatives, family, church family and friends. Please encourage as many people to come out. There will be vendors, food, speakers, music and much more. Bring your lawn chair to enjoy this day. Please feel free to participate in the Fun 5K bike/run/walk starting at 7:30 a.m.
