Newton County MSU Alumni February Meeting
The Newton County Chapter of the Mississippi State Alumni Association will meet at 6 p.m. July 18, at the Union Station Fish House. All alumni, friends of MSU and Bulldog fans are invited to attend.
Hope Missions Volunteer Opportunity
Hope Missions Newton Store is soliciting volunteers to assist with merchandise cleanup, stocking, sorting, cleaning, organizing and even building projects. Newton County High School Drama Department Performance
The Newton County High School Drama Department will perform “Arsenic and Old Lace,” beginning at 6 p.m. May 14, in the NCHS Gymnasium. Admission is $1. The public is invited.
Decatur High School Class of 1978 and 1979 Reunion

Union Day
The Union Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to attend its annual Union Day festival, Saturday, June 15, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The festival will feature a car show, parade, food and craft vendors, political speeches, a talent show and entertainment.
Union Public Library Children’s Story Time
The Union Public Library will host a Children’s Story Time each Friday at 10 a.m., beginning May 80.
County Line Volunteer Fire Department Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the County Line Volunteer Fire Department Fire Protection District will be held Monday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m., at the County Line Community Center. All district residents and property owners are encouraged to attend.
Newton High School Athletic Banquet
The Newton High School Athletic Banquet will be held on Thursday, May 9, at 6 p.m. at the Newton High School Cafeteria. The Awards program will follow at approximately 7 p.m. at the Newton High School Auditorium. Admission is $15 to both the Banquet and Awards Program or
$5 for admission to the Awards Program. You can pay at the door. No charge for coaches and students. Please join us as we honor our Tiger Athletics.
Busy Hands Quilting Guild Meeting
Busy Hands Quilting Guild will meet on May 14, at 9:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Decatur United Methodist Church in Decatur. We will continue working on our charity project for one of the nursing homes. Bring your quilting/sewing equipment and use this time to complete your projects. This is our month to bring food for the Food Bank. Lunch will be on your own. Please bring any “Show and Tell” items you have. Bring an interested friend.
Post 89 Auxiliary Meeting
The Post 89 Auxiliary of American Legion will meet on May 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the “Hut” on Highway 15, south of Decatur. The Legion will also be meeting. This is a pot luck affair. For entertainment we will play Bingo. Prizes will be given for bingo winners. Please bring a person interested in joining or a friend.
Summer Reading Program Launch
The Summer Reading Program will blast-off with “A Universe of Stories” Summer Reading Program Launch from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, May 24, at the Union Branch, 101 Peachtree Street.
