Newton Police Department arrested two Newton men for sexual crimes Thursday after an investigation. Charles Fuller and Micheal Beamon were charged with molestation/ gratification or lust. In a written statement Friday, NPD said the two arrests were not related, however both stemmed from incidents involving children.
Newton Police Chief Harvey Curry said investigators are taking the cases very seriously and are following the steps laid out by law.
“As a law enforcement agency we have a sworn obligation to protect the victims of alleged incidents, but also the suspects,” he said. “Cases such as these carry extreme consequence for all involved and we remind the citizens that suspects are presumed innocent until the courts find them guilty.”
