Newton residents, first responders and family members held an impromptu parade Saturday in front of Beehive Homes of Newton to encourage residents of the care center to keep their spirits up under social distancing restrictions.
Waving signs, banners and cowbells, residents drove past the center, cheering the residents who were gathered on the lawn.
Due to the coronavirus, many of the center’s residents have not been able to receive visitors for several months, and the parade was the first opportunity they had to see friends and family members.
The parade was organized by Beehive Homes as a resident appreciation event.
