Services for Mrs. Angelia Gainey Knight were held 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2020 at Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Sebastopol. Burial was held in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Mrs. Linda Howell officiated.
Visitation was held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020 at Milling Funeral Home of Union.
Mrs. Angelia Gainey Knight was born on Aug. 29, 1944 in Union, MS
She enjoyed traveling to California and everywhere in between with her husband, Charles Knight Sr., for 53 years. She loved to cook for family and friends. She loved to shop and find a good bargain. She was gifted at teaching children as a teacher’s aide, Sunday school teacher, teacher at Camp Bailey, Director of Day Care at West Lauderdale High School and the day care she supplied for many family members and friends. She could find multiple uses for any item with her creativity and making use of what she had.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and known to many as “Nana” and others as “Aunt Annie.” She was a kind, caring woman who loved life and her family.
She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Knight Sr.; daughter, Melissa Knight; son, Charles L. Knight Jr. and her daughter-in-love, Tracey Knight; sisters, Wynette McBeath and Debra Gainey; brothers, Malcolm Gainey and spouse, “Dot,” and Jimmy Gainey and spouse, Vicky; sisters-in-law, Gloria Knight and Carolyn Knight; brothers-in-law, Bill Waldrop, Dewayne Knight and Robbie Knight and spouse Mev, along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Merle Morrow Gainey; father, Troy Gainey; sister, Sue Gainey Broussard; mother- and father-in-love, Amelia and Lewis Knight; sisters-in-law, Barbara Jean Waldrop and Karen Knight; and brothers –in-law, Kenneth McBeath and Jim Knight.
She made friends everywhere she went and they became family to her. She enjoyed a good conversation and never met a stranger.
Her favorite verse was Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[i] have been called according to his purpose.”
She will be missed.
Pallbearers were nephews, Brain Sistrunk, Jeremy Knight, Logan Knight, Mark Tomsic and John Bonelli and family friend, Brian Summers.
