Services for Janis Pilgrim was held 3 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020, from Neshoba Baptist Church in Neshoba County with Rev. Byron Howell and Rev. Mike Duff officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2020, at McClain-Hays Funeral Home and one hour prior to service at the church. McClain-Hays Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Pilgrim, 69, of Union died Thursday, March 12, 2020, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
A native of Newton County, she was a resident of Neshoba County for most of her adult life. She worked as a LPN for Hilltop Manor Nursing Home for 20 years until she retired. She loved and enjoyed being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed working in her yard and her flowers and loved riding around tending to her flowers with her pet, Lucy. Mrs. Pilgrim was a member of Neshoba Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 46 ½ years, Dwight Pilgrim; daughter, Leanne Hollingsworth (David); son, Todd Pilgrim (Kristie), all of Union; grandchildren, Tyler Hollingsworth, Zach Hollingsworth, Macie Pilgrim and Mason Pilgrim; great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Bryer Hollingsworth and one great-grandchild on the way; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Pilgrim was preceded in death by parents, James Holder and Dot Holder Pinter; and sister, Cathy Rayner.
Pallbearers were Tyler Hollingsworth, Zach Hollingsworth, John Stringer, Skyler Stringer, Joey Pilgrim, Ty Pilgrim, Mason Pilgrim and Luke Rayner.
