Services for Mrs. Johnnie Keith of Decatur were held 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 24, 2018 at Clarke-Venable Baptist Church with burial in the Decatur City Cemetery. Dr. Billy Williams officiated.
Visitation were held one hour prior to the service (10-11 a.m.) on Friday at the church.
Mrs. Keith, 92, of Decatur died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, at Woodland Court Retirement Center.
Mrs. Keith was a descendant of the Pioneers of Newton County. She was born in Decatur on June 5, 1926 to John Robert Jones and Ada Mae Pennington Jones.
After attending East Central Community College and Mississippi University for Women, Mrs. Keith graduated from Mississippi State University where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree.
Mrs. Keith worked as the bookkeeper for Newton County Schools for 21 years and retired from Mississippi State Health after 10 years of service as a social worker.
She married Thomas C. Keith in 1946 in the first church wedding after WWII.
They had two children: Kathie Keith Bounds and Thomas C. Keith Jr. (Pam).
She was a proud grandmother of six grandchildren, Corey Bounds (Haley), Daniel Bounds (Megan), Max Bounds (Katie), Camp Keith (Brandi), Keri Keith Clanton (T-Bo) and Kirby Keith (Stephanie).
Mrs. Keith was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren, Maggie, Chance and Brady Bounds; Logan, Katie and Peyton Bounds; Grant, Case and Loren Grace Keith; and Taul, Truss, Turner and Toni Campbell Clanton.
Mrs. Keith was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Keith Sr.; parents, John R. Jones and Ada Mae Pennington Jones; and one sister, Elizabeth Reeves.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Corey Bounds, Daniel Bounds, Max Bounds, Camp Keith, Kirby Keith and T-Bo Clanton.
Milling Funeral Home of Union was in charge of the arrangements.
