Waudine M. Chaney, 90, of Traverse City passed away Sept. 21, at Indian Trail Adult Home.
Waudine was born on March 11, 1928 in Decatur, Mississippi to the late Otis and Inez (Graham) Parks.
On April 26, 1946 Waudine married William “Edsel” Chaney in Mississippi. The two had met at a church sing, kept in touch as Ed served in the War and then were married shortly thereafter in a small ceremony officiated by their pastor.
Waudine was a beautiful person with a servant heart. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She served the Lord through many children’s ministries including leading Sunday School, vacation bible school and helping with other children’s events. In her spare time she loved tending her garden, arranging flowers and entertaining. She also enjoyed sewing and crafting. She will be greatly missed.
Waudine was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Chaney, daughter, Terry, and brothers, Victor and Jim Parks.
Waudine is survived by her daughters, Lynn (Ed) Tate of Diamondhead, Deborah (Michael) Manley of Williamsburg, Pamela Hall of Elk Rapids; grandchildren Jim, Laura, Jathan, Keri, Kris, Kati, Tiffany and Clayton; and great grandchildren Quinlan, Emma, Eva, Carley, Eleanor, Alistair, Zaydrian and Gemma; and half siblings Wayne Parks and Martha (Bob) Deering.
Visitation was held Tuesday Sept. 25 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The funeral to celebrate and honor Waudine’s life will be held at East Bay Calvary on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
Burial will take place at Bingham Township Cemetery.
