Over this quarantine period, I’ve had a substantial amount of “free time.” Most of this extra time has been put into freestyle soccer, essentially, doing tricks with a soccer ball. That description undersells it, though. It’s a spectacular sport and art form, and the boundaries of it are being pushed more and more each day. I’ve been freestyling seriously for a couple of years, but recently I’ve had the opportunity to freestyle much more than I usually do, resulting in me training daily, for a few hours each day.
I’ve started two freestyle-related series on my YouTube channel, “13unty.” “FaceTime Sessions” is a series in which I feature other freestylers from around the world and we have a training session over FaceTime. The other is “New Trick,” a series in which I land a new trick each episode. I am also currently working on a project called “Quarantine Freestyle.” This will be a compilation of tricks and combinations I’ve landed throughout quarantine.
Obviously, the situation we are in right now is extremely disheartening, but I’m glad it has given me and many others a chance to pursue things and better ourselves.
