Parents and guardians of the Class of 2034 were on the Newton County Elementary School campus this week registering their kindergarteners for the 2021-22 school year. Future Kindergarten parent Ashley Glover takes advantage of the photo booth featuring the 2021-22 campus theme to snap a picture of her daughter, Ella Glover. Any parent or guardian of a five year old (must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2021) in the Newton County School District, who was not able to register during the designated week, is encouraged to call the NCES Office at 601-635-2956 to set up an appointment to register.

Students in Tiffany Bass’ English classes at Newton County High School volunteered to read in front of a camera in order to continue the tradition of NCHS partnering with students at Newton County Elementary School to help meet the NCES Read Across America campus goal. NCHS ninth grader Kaylean Alonso reads as NCES students Ladarion Cleveland and Mason Dean listen in Jennifer Tune’s second grade classroom. Teachers at NCES are able to match the class reading level with a variety of video selections.
