The Newton County Academy Lady Generals split a pair of games last week.
After a tough 5-4 loss to Lamar Christian on Tuesday, the Lady Generals took a 7-4 win over rival Sylva Bay on Thursday.
NCA was scheduled to host Discovery Christian on Monday and make the return trip on Tuesday.
Lamar Christian 5, NCA 4
The Lady Generals rallied late but it was too little, too late as the Lady Lions held on to take a one-run win on Tuesday
Lamar Christian scored one in the second while NCA answered with a single run in the top of the third. Lamar Christian then scored one in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 5-1 lead. NCA rallied with three runs in the seventh to take the win.
Each team had six hits in the contest. Marli Clare Kelly was 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Sophia Munn was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Kelsey Tibbetts singled and drove in two runs while Adriane Luke singled and scored a run.
Kelly started in the circle and pitched four innings, giving up four runs on three hits and two walks while striking out three. Munn pitched two innings and gave up one unearned run on three hits while striking out two.
NCA 7, Sylva Bay 4
The Lady Generals took an early lead and took a three-run win over the Lady Saints on Thursday.
NCA scored three runs in the bottom of the first and each team scored one in the second as the Lady Generals led 4-1 after four innings. NCA added two in the firth and one in the sixth while Sylva Bay scored single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Sylva Bay outhit NCA 12-6 in the contest. Maggie Vance was 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Kelsey Tibbetts singles and drove in two runs. Marli Clare Kelly singled and scored twice.
Sophia Munn started in the circle and pitched seven innings to pick up the win, scattering 12 hits as she gave up four runs and struck out seven.
