UNION 4-7, RALEIGH 0-5
After losing the first game of the Class 3A playoffs to Jefferson Davis County, the Union Lady Yellowjackets have now won four straight games.
Union didn’t let Raleigh hang around in the second round, winning 4-0 on Friday and 7-5 on Monday.
Union improves to 17-9 on the season and will take on West Marion in the third round of the Class 3A playoffs.
Union 4, Raleigh 0
The Lady Yellowjackets took an early lead and allowed just two hits in a shutout win over the Lady Lions on Friday.
Union scored three runs in the top of the first and added one in the sixth.
Union outhit Raleigh 7-2. Lauryn Roebuck was 3-for-4 with a double and one run scored. Cary Wilkinson was 2-for-2 and drove in two RBIs. Lacee Bishop tripled and drove in a run while Destiney Moulds singled and scored.
Alanee Wheeler started in the circle and pitched seven innings, scattering two hits and two walks while striking out 11.
Union 7, Raleigh 5
The Lady Yellowjackets took an early lead but had to come back and take a two-run win over the Lady Lions and take the series win.
Union scored two in the bottom of the first but Raleigh answered with three runs in the top of the third. Union added two more runs in the second to retake the lead at 4-3. But Raleigh added two more in the third to retake the lead at 5-4. Union then scored one in the fourth and two in the fifth to take the final lead.
Raleigh outhit Union 10-6 in the contest but the Lady Yellowjackets took advantage of six errors. Elle Killen and Alanee Wheeler each homered and drove in two runs. Tiara Campbell was 2-for 3 with two doubles while Lauryn Roebuck also doubled.
Wheeler pitched all seven innings and gave up five runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out five.
