It was an up-and-down week for the Lake softball team, both at the plate and in the circle.
Lake opened the week with a 17-8 win over Southeast Lauderdale that was highlighted by a 10-run seventh inning. Lake then finished the week on Saturday with a 13-5 loss to Stringer.
Lake will begin region play with a doubleheader at Newton. Game 1 is set for 5 p.m. while Game 2 will follow. On Friday, Lake will play Harrison Central and then take on Hernando on Saturday at the West Harrison Tournament.

Hitting: Sadie Thompson was 4-for-5 with a double, four runs scored and two RBIs. Daelyn Earls was 3-for-4 while Alyssa Sockey was 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Brantlee McGee and Lyric Lay were each 2-for-5 while Lay had two RBIs. Kinsley Woods singled and drove in two runs while Lydaysha Thames singled, walked twice and scored three runs. Alaina Alford also singled and drove in four runs.
Pitching: Alford started in the circle and picked five complete innings, giving up three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out two. Ceely Graham pitched the last two innings and gave up five runs on three hits and three walks to pick up the win.

Hitting: Alaina Alford was 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Alyssa Sockey was 2-for-3 with a double. Lyric Lay also had a double and scored while Daelyn Earls singled, walked twice and scored twice.
Pitching: Alford started in the circle and took the loss, giving up 11 runs on 15 hits while striking out one. Ceely Graham pitched two innings in relief, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk.
