Union saw both sides of the softball spectrum last week.
The Lady Yellowjackets beat Noxapater 19-2 on Tuesday and then lost a pair of game to Class 5A powers Neshoba Central 8-2 and Wayne County 11-2.
Union will return to action this week with a key division series with Lake. Union will travel to Lake on Tuesday and host the Lady Hornets on Thursday. On Friday, Union will host Scott Central in a division doubleheader. On Saturday, Union will host Newton in another division doubleheader.
Union 19, Noxapater 2
The Lady Yellowjackets scored in every inning and took a five-inning, run-rule win over the Lady Tigers on Tuesday.
Union scored two in the first, eight in the second, four in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth. Noxapater scored its two runs in the fifth.
Union had 10 hits and took advantage of seven hit batters and three walks. Jordan Turner was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs score and five RBIs. Ashlynn Jenkins was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and four RBIs while Alanee Wheeler was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Anna Grace Blount singled, scored three runs and had three RBIs. Kaylee Holley singled and drove in two runs while D.D. Hunter singled, was hit twice and scored four runs. Abbie Jenkins also scored two runs.
Wheeler started in the circle and pitched three innings as she struck out eight without giving up a run. Britli Cleveland pitched the next two innings and gave up two unearned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out three.
Neshoba Central 8, Union 2
The Lady Rockets started fast and took a six-run win over the Lady Yellowjackets on Saturday.
Union scored one in the top of the first and Neshoba answered with three in the bottom of the frame. The Lady Rockets added one in the second, two in the third and single runs in the fourth and sixth. Union added its other run in the third.
Union had five hits in the contest as Ashlynn Jenkins was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Anna Grace Blount and Alanee Wheeler each singled and scored a run while Jordan Turner singled and drove in a run.
Britli Cleveland started and pitched 2 1/3 innings and gave up six runs on eight hits. Wheeler pitched the last 3 2/3 innings and gave up two runs on three hits while striking out four.
