On Thursday, the East Central Community College Lady Warriors clinched a thrilling 3-2 walk-off victory against Illinois Central College. The game was deadlocked at two in the bottom of the seventh inning when an error allowed the winning run to score.

Baseball: Yellowjackets open season with run-rule games

The Union Yellowjackets kicked off the 2024 baseball season by winning two of three games this past week.

Union hammered Leake Central 15-3 on Tuesday and 16-0 on Friday. Union then dropped a 7-5 contest to Quitman on Saturday to finish out the week.

Baseball: Cougars go 1-1 to open 2024

The Newton County baseball team opened the regular season with a pair of games last week.

The Cougars opened on Tuesday as they dropped a 12-5 decision to Neshoba Central before bouncing back and beating Clinton 1-0 on Friday.
