The Newton Tigers showed up late to Mize on Friday night.
Mize took advantage and jumped out to a 20-0 lead and Newton fought back but ended up dropping a 34-22 decision to the home-standing Bulldogs on Friday night.
Newton (0-6) will travel to Lake on Friday night for a key division matchup with the rival Hornets.
