Alderman continues hot streak at plate
Former newton County academy standout Kemp Alderman keeps pounding the baseball for No. 4 Ole Miss.
Alderman was 5-for-8 in a three-game sweep of Purdue last weekend with three home runs, including a dramatic walk-off home run in Saturday’s 7-6 extra-inning contest.
Alderman had a big game on Friday night against Purdue in a 15-7 win. Alderman was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and five RBIs as he hit another home run and had sacrifice fly. On Saturday, a 7-6 extra inning win, Alderman was 3-for-4 with two home runs, two runs scored and five RBIs, including a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning. On Sunday, Ole Miss won 6-1 to sweep the series as Alderman was walked all four times he came to bat.
Ole Miss improves to14-2 on the season and will play at Jacksonville State on Tuesday before opening SEC play at Vanderbilt on Thursday.
Alderman now leads the Rebels with a .390 batting average with 23 hits in 59 at-bats. Alderman has a team-high eight home runs and leads the team with 26 RBIs.
