The Lake Hornets had little trouble in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs last week.
The Hornets swept a doubleheader from West Bolivar, beating the Eagles 13-0 and 16-0 on Saturday. The Hornets finished out the regular season with a 15-5 win over Noxapater on Monday.
Lake improves to 18-6 on the season and advances second round and will face the winner of East Webster and New Site series.
Lake 13, West Bolivar 0
The Hornets dominated the Eagles as the took a run-rule win in 3 1/2 innings to open the series on Saturday.
Lake scored three in the first, five in the second and third innings.
Lake had just seven hits while drawing 11 walks. Will Geter was 2-for-2 for the Hornets while Seth Harrison doubled and drove in two runs. Noah Thornton singled and drove in two runs while Nathon Lott and Brady McGee each walked twice and scored two runs apiece. Noah Essary singled and drove in two runs while Easton Tune scored two runs.
Essary was solid on the mound, giving up just one hit and striking out 10 of the 13 batters he faced.
Lake 16, West Bolivar 0
The Hornets completed the sweep of the Eagles as Brady McGee cruised to the win.
McGee pitched all three innings and struck out seven without giving up a hit with just one reaching on an error.
The Hornets had just four hits in the win.
Lake 15, Noxapater 5
The Hornets scored all of their runs in the first two innings and took a run-rule win on Monday.
Lake scored three in the first and 12 in the second while Noxapater added five runs in the fifth.
Lake outhit Noxapater 12-3 in the contest. Mickey Parker had a big game, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs. Nathon Lott was 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Noah Essary had a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs. Logan Palmer was 2-for-3 while Brady McGee scored three runs.
Seth Harrison started on the mound and pitched four innings, giving up two hits while striking out three. Palmer and Lott also saw time on the mound for the Hornets.
