Each of the Newton County Academy basketball teams came away with a win over the Christmas break.
The Generals grabbed a 46-23 win over Benton but had losses to Central Holmes and Jackson Victors.
The Lady Generals beat Jackson 57-31 while losing to Benton and Central Holmes.
NCA will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Clinton Christian. They will travel to Canton on Thursday and host Wayne on Friday.
NCA boys 46, Benton 23
The Generals grabbed a much-needed victory at the Benton Tournament.
The Generals outscored the Raiders in every period as they led 10-6 at the end of the first and 22-12 at the half. The Generals continued to extend the lead in the second half, outscoring the Raiders 15-4 in the third to take a 37-16 lead. NCA finished off the game by outscoring Benton 9-7.
Ethan McDill led NCA with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Benton Academy girls 43, NCA 41
The Lady Generals posted a come-from-behind effort but fell short against homesteading Benton.
Benton jumped out to a 14-8 lead at the end of the first and NCA used an 11-8 advantage in the second to cut the lead to 22-19 at the half. Benton outscored NCA 13-7 in the third to take a 35-26 lead into the fourth. NCA outscored Benton 15-8 in the fourth for the final margin.
Anna Laurel Moody led NCA with 15 points while Jordan Russell had nine points.
Central Holmes boys 52, NCA 41
The Generals led early but Central Holmes was able to pull away for the win at the Benton Tournament.
NCA led 8-7 at the end of the first and Central Holmes outscored the Generals 15-11 in the second to lead 22-19 at the half. The Trojans started to pull away in the second half as they outscored the Generals 18-12 in the third and 10-8 in the fourth.
Dalton Sibley led the Generals with 18 points while Kemp Alderman had 10 points and seven rebounds.
Central Holmes girls 57, NCA 37
Central Holmes used a big second period to pull away and beat the Lady Generals.
NCA led 9-8 at the end of the first period before Central Holmes outscored the Lady Generals 26-10 in the second to take a 34-19 at the half. Each team scored 14 points in the third period and Central Holmes used a 9-4 advantage in the fourth period to take the win.
Karli Blackledge led NCA with 10 points while Kelli Hollingsworth had seven points.
Jackson Victors boys 57, NCA 31
The Victors used a steady supply of offense to take a 26-point win over the Generals on Friday.
Jackson led 11-4 at the end of the first and 28-10 at the half. Jackson extended the lead in the third, outscoring NCA 11-4 to take a 39-14 lead going into the fourth, where the Victors outscored the Generals 18-17 to take the win.
Ethan McDill led NCA with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Dalton Sibley had 12 points.
NCA girls 34, Jackson Victors 27
With two starters out, the Lady Generals used a balanced scoring attack to take a seven-point win over the Lady Victors on Friday.
NCA led 14-6 at the end of the first period and led 20-16 at the half. NCA extended its lead in the second half, outscoring Jackson 6-5 in the third and 8-6 in the fourth.
Taylor Evans had her best game of the season as she scored eight points while Ashton Russell, Jordan Russell and Kaleigh Cosgrove each had six points apiece. Karli Blackledge also had five points.
