The Lake boys handed Union one of its few losses this season.
The Yellowjackets made sure it didn’t happen again as they beat the Hornets 54-46 in a Division 4-2A contest. The Lady Yellowjackets followed suit with a 54-44 win over the Lady Hornets.
On Friday night, Lake host Philadelphia and suffered a pair of losses, as the Lady Hornets fell 56-36 while the Hornets fell 79-54.
Lake will return to action on Friday as they travel to Union in their only game this week.
Union will travel to Scott Central on Tuesday in their other contest this week.
Union boys 53, Lake 46
The Jackets avenged one of their few losses on the season as they beat Lake by seven points on Tuesday night in a 4-2A matchup.
Union jumped out to a 10-4 lead at the end of the first period and each team scored 13 points in the second period as the Yellowjackets led 23-17 at the half. Lake cut into the led in the third period as they outscored Union 15-13 to make the score 36-32 going into the fourth. Union then outscored Lake 17-14 in fourth to take the win.
J.T. Vance led a balanced scoring attack for Union with 11 points. P.J. Gage had 10 points while Sage Gunn added eight points. Kenyon Clay and Jamarcus Jones each added six points apiece.
J’Lann Broadfoot led Lake with 10 points while Zywon Ledbetter had eight points and 11 rebounds while T.J. Lay also had eight points. Brady McGee also had six points.
Union girls 54, Lake 44
The Lady Yellowjackets built a big first-half lead and held on to take a 10-point win on Tuesday against the Lady Hornets.
Union jumped out to a 16-8 lead in the first period and outscored the Lady Hornets 17-6 in the second to lead 33-14 at the half. Lake cut into Union’s lead in the second half as they outscored the Lady Yellowjackets 15-9 in the third and 15-12 in the fourth for the final margin.
Ansley Rigby led Union with 19 points while Eryanna Mason had 16 points.
Laurel Breland led Lake with 14 points while D’Nara Barton had nine points. Tra’Shaylah Wilson also had eight points.
Philadelphia girls 56, Lake 36
The Lady Tornadoes outscored the Lady Hornets in every period as they took a 20-point win on Friday night.
Philly led 14-10 at the end of the first and 22-13 at the half. Philly started to pull away in the second half as they outscored Lake 16-9 in the third and 17-4 in the fourth to take the win.
Darnesia Jones led Lake with 12 points while Laurel Breland had eight points. D’Nara Barton had six points for the Lady Hornets as well.
Andrika Carter and Tyesha Cole led Philly with 13 points apiece.
Philadelphia boys 79, Lake 54
The Tornadoes stayed undefeated in 4-2A play as they beat Union by 25 on Friday night.
Philly used a steady supply of offense to take the win as they outscored Lake 16-13 in the first and 25-12 in the second to lead 41-25 at the half. Philly continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Lake 19-15 in the third and 19-14 in the fourth.
Danarious Hughes led Lake with 15 point while Tim Norris and Zywon Ledbetter each had nine points apiece. J’Lann Broadfoot also chipped in seven points.
Asher Morgan led Philly with 23 points while Zabin Hunter had 14 points and Tanner Boler added 11 points.
