Both Lake teams entered the Division 6-2A Tournament needing wins to keep their seasons alive.
Both teams did that on Tuesday and both left the Division 6-2A tournament as the No. 3 seed, advancing to the Class 2A South State Tournament this week.
The Lady Hornets beat Philadelphia 58-56 on Tuesday before losing to top seed Newton 63-43 on Thursday. The Lady Hornets then beat rival Scott Central 45-35 on Friday to claim the No. 3 seed.
The Hornets opened the tournament with a 62-36 win over rival Scott Central before losing 45-40 to eventual champion Philadelphia on Thursday. The Hornets then bounced back and beat Union 54-51 on Friday to advance to the playoffs.
The Lady Hornets, now 15-11 on the season, finish as the No. 3 seed from Division 6-2A and will travel to East Marion on Monday for a 6 p.m. contest.
The Hornets also finish as the No. 3 seed from 6-2A and will travel to North Forest on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. contest
Danarrious Hughes and D’Vonte Rankin were named to the 6-2A all-tournament team while Hughes was named the all-division team for the regular season.
On the girls side, Ameria Ervin and Laneisha Palm were named to the regular-season all-division team as well as the all-tournament team.

The Tornadoes again overcame a slow start and pulled away late for a five-point win over the improving Hornets on Thursday.
The Tornadoes struggled early as they trailed 10-3 at the end of the first. The Tornadoes outscored the Hornets 11-8 in the second and trailed 18-14 at the half. The Tornadoes outscored the Hornets 16-11 in the third to take a 30-29 going to the fourth. Philly then outscored Lake 15-11 in the fourth for the final margin.
Danarrious Hughes led Lake with 13 points while Zywon Ledbetter added nine points.

Scott Central 36
The Hornets qualified for the state tournament and the 6-2A semifinals with a blowout win over the rival Rebels on Tuesday.
Lake led 10-5 at the end of the first and 26-19 at the half. The Hornets outscored the Rebels 17-15 in the third and finished by outscoring Scott Central 19-2 in the fourth for the final margin.
Danarrious Hughes led Lake with 17 points while Zywon Ledbetter added 15 points. D’Vonte Rankin had 13 points and Brady McGee chipped in six points.

Philadelphia 56
The Lady Hornets got two players in double digits and took a two-point win over the Lady Tornadoes on Tuesday in an elimination game.
Lake led 9-8 at the end of the first and 26-20 at the half. Philadelphia rallied in the third, outscoring Lake 17-11 to tie the game at 37-37. Lake outscored Philadelphia 21-19 to take the win.
Ameria Ervin led Lake with 22 points while Laneisha Palm had 19 points. D’Nara Barton added eight points.

Scott Central 35
In the girls consolation game on Friday, the Lady Hornets took a 10-point win over the Lady Rebels to finish third in the division tournament.
Scott Central led 19-16 at the end of the first but Lake used a 17-6 second period to lead 33-26 at the half. After Scott Central outscored Lake 5-3 in the third, the Lady Hornets finished by outscoring Scott Central 9-0 in the fourth to take the win.
Laneisha Palm and Tra’Shaylah Wilson each had 11 points apiece while Ameria Ervin added seven points.
