The Lake Lady Hornets had a tough week on the softball diamond as they lost a pair of contests last week.
The Lady Hornets lost 4-0 to Raleigh on Tuesday and then dropped a 9-6 decision to West Lauderdale on Thursday.
Lake will return to action on Tuesday as they travel to West Lauderdale and will then travel to Kosciusko on Thursday before playing in the West Harrison Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
West Lauderdale 9, Lake 6
The Lady Knights scored six runs in the bottom of the third and took a three-run win over the Lady Hornets on Thursday.
Each team scored two runs in the first inning and Lake scored one in the second to lead 3-2. But West then scored six in the bottom of the third and added another run in the fifth. Lake scored its two runs in the fourth and added another run in the seventh.
West outhit Lake 7-6 in the contest. Kaytie Hillman was 2-for-3 and drove in three runs. Laurel Breland doubled, scored and drove in a run. Taylor Duncan singled and scored. Kate Gladney and Tra’Shaylah Wilson each scored two runs apiece.
Marcie McMillian got the start and pitched 1 1/3 innings and gave up five runs on five hits. Brantle McGee pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up two unearned runs on three hits and two strikeouts. Gladney pitched the final three innings, giving up one run on two hits. striking out three.
Raleigh 4, Lake 0
The Lady Hornets were shut out by the Lady Lions on Tuesday.
Raleigh scored two in the first and one in the second and fourth innings.
Raleigh outhit Lake 8-5 in the game. Alana Edmonds was 2-for-3 in the game. Taylor Duncan, Laurel Breland and Reagan Clark each had singles.
Kate Gladney pitched all seven innings for the Lady Hornets, giving up four runs on eight hits and six walks. striking out three.
