The honors keep piling up for another area baseball player.
Lake’s Brady McGee was recently named a freshman All-American by MaxPreps.
The 5-foot-10 rising sophomore was named to the team last week after a monster freshman year at Lake.
McGee helped the Hornets to the third round of the Class 2A playoffs as he hit .50 with 51 run scored and 25 RBIs as he hit 10 doublers and seven triples. McGee was named to the team as a pitcher after he went 10-0 and posted a 1.07 ERA in 52.1 innings pitched and struck out 59.
McGee was also named to the Mississippi Association of Coaches Class 2A all-state team and was the Most Valuable Player in Division 5-2A.
As an eighth grader, McGee had a .455 batting average as he scored 46 runs and had 26 RBIs as a starter for the Hornets.
McGee was the only freshman from Mississippi named to the team. Only two other players were named to the underclassman team from Mississippi was Blaze Jordan, a sophomore from Desoto Central. Jordan hit .440, scored 39 runs, had 46 RBIs with 11 doubles and 10 home runs. Jordan was also named the sophomore player of the year on the team. Also making the team was Biloxi infielder Colten Keith, who was the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year. Keith hit .527, scored 46 runs, had 49 RBIs and had 12 doubles, five triples and eight home runs. On the mound, Keith was 6-0 with a 1.47 ERA and 74 strikeouts in 38 innings pitched.
Newton County Academy’s Kemp Alderman was named a small-school All-American by Max Preps, one of just 30 players selected in the country.
