The Newton County Academy Lady Generals took one blowout win this past week and were three outs from another one.
On Tuesday, NCA led rival Sylva Bay 5-1 before the game was suspended in the top of the seventh. Then on Saturday, the Lady Generals mashed Kemper Academy 19-0.
On Thursday, the Lady Generals will host Class AAAA Hartfield.
NCA 19, Kemper 0
The Lady Generals needed just three innings to dispatch Kemper on Saturday.
The Lady Generals scored seven runs in the first and second innings and five runs in the third inning.
NCA had 10 hits on the day and took advantage of eight walks.
Amber Grierson was 2-for-2 with three runs scored one two RBIs while Lily Hollingsworth was 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Kaleigh Cosgrove was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Taylor Evans walked twice and scored three runs. Abbie McGee drove in three runs while Belle Hollingsworth walked twice and drove in two runs. Jordan Russell scored twice and drove in two runs while Cayden Alexander scored twice.
Kelli Hollingsworth pitched all three innings as she gave up two hits and two walks while striking out three.
NCA 5, Sylva 1 (suspended)
A weather delay caused a suspension of play heading to the top of the seventh inning on Tuesday against rival Sylva Bay.
The game will be completed when NCA travels to Sylva Bay this week.
NCA scored one in the second and Sylva Bay scored one in the third. NCA then added four runs in the fifth inning to lead 5-1 going into the seventh.
NCA had seven hits in the contest as Kelli Hollingsworth was 3-for-3 with a double and one run scored. Marla Graham had a triple and scored a run. Abbie McGee had a single and drove in a run while Kaleigh Cosgrove singled and scored a run.
Taylor Evans pitched six solid innings and gave up one run on six hits with six strikeouts.
