The Newton County Academy Lady Generals qualified for the Class 2A state softball tournament on Monday.
After beating West Memphis 5-4 and Marvell 7-2 on Saturday, the Lady Generals lost twice on Monday, falling 8-4 to Tunica and 18-6 to Marvell.
NCA 5, West Memphis 4
The Lady Generals took advantage of six errors by West Memphis and scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a come-from-behind walk-off win on Saturday at the Class 2A North State Tournament.
NCA had seven hits in the contest as Cayden Alexander, Mary Kate Hardy and Jordan Russell each had doubles.
Lilly Hollingsworth pitched all seven innings and gave up four unearned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five.
NCA 7, Marvell Academy 2
The Lady Generals used a trio of two-run innings to take a five-run win over Marvell in game two of the North 2A Tournament on Saturday.
Each team scored one run in the first inning while NCA added two in the fourth, fifth and sixth inning.
NCA had 15 hits as Cayden Alexander was 2-for-2 with two RBIs while Mary Kate Hardy was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Ashlyn Mathis was 2-for-3 with a double mile Mallory Helm was also 2-for-3. Belle Hollingsworth and Jordan Russell were each 2-for-4 while Anna Turner also had a double.
Jordan Russell pitched all seven innings and gave up two runs on seven hits while striking out nine.
Marvell Academy 18, NCA 6
Marvell used a pair of big innings to take a 12-run win and eliminate the Lady Generals on Monday.
Marvell scored eight in the second and seven in the fourth. NCA scored six in the fourth.
NCA had just three hits as Mary Kate Hardy and Mallory Helm each singled, scored and had an RBI. Jordan Russell singled and scored a run.
Russell pitched 1 1/3 innings and Lilly Hollingsworth pitched 5 2/3 innings.
Tunica Academy 8, NCA 4
Tunica used three big innings and took a four-run win on Monday to hand NCA its first loss in the Class 2A Tournament.
Tunica scored two in the second, three in the third and fourth innings while NCA scored one in the second, third, fourth and seventh innings.
Cayden Alexander was 2-for-3 with two RBIs while Belle Hollingsworth was 2-for-3.
Jordan Russell pitched 3 2/3 innings while Lilly Hollingsworth pitched the last 2 1/3 innings.
NCA 26, Columbus Christian 1
The Lady Generals needed just three innings to take a blowout win over the Lady Rams on Monday.
NCA scored nine in the first, 11 in the second and six in the third.
NCA had 15 hits and drew 12 walks in the game. Mary Kate hardy was 2-for-2 with a home run, three runs scored and three RBIs. Jordan Russell was 2-for-3 with a triple, three runs scored and four RBIs. Belle Hollingsworth was 2-for-2 with four RBIs while Gracie Humphreys was 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Ashlyn Mathis was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Audri Ann White, Cayden Alexander, Mallory Helm, Anna Turner and Sydnee Cosgrove each scored two runs apiece.
Lilly Hollingsworth pitched one scoreless inning while Cosgrove pitched two innings and gave up one run on one hit while striking out five.
NCA 11, Hebron 0
The Lady Generals finished off the Lady Eagles with seven runs in the sixth to take a run-rule win on Tuesday to end the regular season.
NCA scored two runs in the first and third and finished with seven in the sixth.
NCA had 11 hits in the contest and had eight reach on errors.
Mallory Helm was 3-for-4 with four RBIs while Anna Turner was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Lilly Hollingsworth was 2-for-4 while Cayden Alexander had a home run and two RBIs. Belle Hollingsworth also had a single and two RBIs while Gracie Humphreys and Sydnee Cosgrove each scored two runs apiece.
