The Newton County Academy Lady Generals got their first win of the fast-pitch season last week.
The Lady Generals opened the week with a 9-6 win over Winston Academy before dropping four straight, including three in the Hartfield Tournament.
NCA, now 1-5, will return to play this week when they travel to Hartfield on Monday for a 6:15 p.m. contest. On Thursday, NCA will travel to Prentiss Christian for a 5 p.m. contest and will then travel to Scooba on Saturday to play Leake Academy at 1:30 p.m. at East Mississippi.
Hillcrest Christian 8, NCA 1
The Lady Generals managed only two hits in a three-inning, time-limit contest to close out the day on Saturday.
Hillcrest scored three in the first, four in the second and one in the third. NCA scored its one run in the third.
Hillcrest outhit NCA 6-2 as Lilly Hollingsworth and Gracie Humphreys each had singles. Belle Hollingsworth also had an RBI. Sydnee Cosgrove also walked and scored a run.
Jordan Russell pitched 1 1/3 innings while Lilly Hollingsworth pitched the final 1 2/3 innings for NCA.
Hartfield 7, NCA 0
The Lady Generals only had one hit in a shutout loss to Hartfield on Saturday.
Hartfield scored single runs in the first, second and fourth while adding four in the third.
Belle Hollingsworth had NCA’s only hit while Jordan Russell walked and had a stolen base.
Lilly Hollingsworth pitched all four innings for NCA, giving up three earned runs on seven hits and four walks.
East Rankin 9, NCA 2
The Lady Patriots had six hits and four walks as they scored all their runs in two innings to take a time-limit win on Saturday.
East Rankin scored five in the first and four in the second while NCA scored one in the first and fourth innings.
East Rankin outhit NCA 6-4 in the contest. Lilly Hollingsworth was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases while Belle Hollingsworth was 2-for-2. Ashlyn Mathis walked and scored a run.
Jordan Russell pitched all three innings for NCA.
Wayne 11, NCA 3
The Lady Jaguars used a steady supply of offense to take an eight-run win over the Lady Generals on Tuesday.
The score was tied at 1-1 after three innings before Wayne scored three in the fourth and sixth innings and two in the fifth and seventh innings.
Wayne outhit NCA 13-9, but the Lady Generals committed seven errors in the field. Belle Hollingsworth was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI while Lilly Hollingsworth and Jordan Russell were each 2-for-4. Gracie Humphreys tripled and scored a run while Mallory Helm singled and had an RBI.
Lilly Hollingsworth pitched all seven innings for the Lady Generals.
NCA 9, Winston 6
The Lady Generals grabbed their first win of the season over the Lady Patriots on Monday.
Winston scored two runs in the first before NCA answered with five in the third and two in the fourth to go up 7-2. Winston scored four in the top of the sixth to pull within 7-6 before NCA answered with two in the bottom of the sixth to take the win.
NCA had eight hits in the game and drew four walks. Belle Hollingsworth was 3-for-3 and had four RBIs while Lilly Hollingsworth was 2-for-4 with a double and scored three runs. Jordan Russell had two RBIs while Sydnee Cosgrove scored two runs.
Jordan Russell pitched all seven innings and scattered nine hits and gave up six runs while striking out four.t
