The Newton County Academy softball team only got in one game last week but they made it count.
The Lady Generals hammered rival Sylva Bay 13-5 to improve to 4-5 on the season.
NCA will return to action this week as they travel to Wayne on Monday and will host Sylva Bay on Tuesday.

The Lady Generals scored in six of the seven innings to take an eight-run win over the Lady Saints on Tuesday.
The game was tied at 2-2 after two innings before NCA scored in five straight innings with two in the third, one in the fourth and seventh, four in the fifth and three in the sixth.
NCA had 12 hits and drew five walks. Anna Turner led NCA at the plate, going 3-for-4 while Gracie Humphreys was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. Jordan Russell was 2-for-2 and had two walks. Ashley Mathis had three RBIs and scored twice while Mallory Helm and Mary Kate Hardy each had two RBIs.
Russell pitched all seven innings and gave up five runs on six hits and while striking out two and walking three.
