Newton County Academy kicked off the baseball season last week with a pair of games.
The Generals opened with a 12-2 win over Tri-County Academy before falling 5-1 to Wayne Academy.
NCA is set to return to action on Tuesday as they host Meridian Home School. The Generals have the rest of the week off and will travel to Leake on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
NCA 12, Tri-County 2
The Generals used a seven-run fifth inning and took a run-rule win over the Rebels on Saturday.
The score was tied 1-1 after four innings before the Generals scored seven runs in the fifth and finished with four in the sixth to take the win.
The Generals had 11 hits in the contest as Kemp Alderman and Hayden West were each 2-for-3 and scored a run. Jax Porter was 2-for-4 and scored two runs while Jacob Smith doubled, scored two runs and drove in two runs. Austin Upton doubled and drove in two runs while Hayden Wall also drove in two runs. Hayze West had two walks and scored two runs.
Alderman pitched the first three innings and gave up one run on three hits and struck out six. Wesley Williams pitched the final three innings and gave up one hit while striking out four.
Wayne 5, NCA 1
The Jaguars took an early lead and took a four-run win over the Generals on Saturday at Tri-County.
Wayne scored two in the first and single runs in the third, fourth and sixth. NCA scored its only run in the sixth.
NCA had three hits in the contest as Hayden Wall was 2-for-3 while Kemp Alderman was 1-for-3.
Hayden West got the start and pitched three innings while giving up three runs and striking out four. Austin Upton pitched 1 2/3 inning and gave up one runs while Hayden Wall pitched 1 1/3 innings. Hayze West pitched the final inning and struck out three.
