The Newton County Academy Lady Generals saw their season come to an end in the Class AA Tournament on Saturday.
NCA lost to Centreville 7-5 in the open and then 7-6 to Marvell Academy to finish out the season.
The Lady Generals finish the season with a 13-13 record.
Centreville Academy 7, NCA 5
Centreville scored five runs in the fourth inning and held on take a two-run win in the Class AA Tournament on Saturday.
NCA scored one in the first and second to go up 2-0. Centreville tied it up with two in the third and then scored five in the fourth. NCA added two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.
NCA had six hits in the contest. Anna Turner doubled and scored a run while Ashlyn Mathis doubled and had an RBI. Gracie Humphreys singled and drove in a run while Mary Kate Hardy singled, walked twice and scored twice. Cayden Alexander walked twice while Mallory Helm singled and scored a run.
Jordan Russell pitched all six innings for NCA and gave up seven runs on seven hits and six walks while striking out two.
Marvell 7, NCA 6
The Lady Generals lost to Marvell for the second time in a week as their season came to an end.
Marvell scored one in the first before NCA scored two in the second and third and one in the fourth to go up 5-1. Marvell scored one in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh to send the game into extra innings. NCA scored one in the eighth but Marvell scored two in the bottom of the frame to take the walk-off win.
NCA had 12 hits in the contest as Lilly Hollingsworth was 3-for-5 with a double while Cayden Alexander was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Belle Hollingsworth was 2-for-4 while Mallory Helm was 2-for-4. Mary Kate Hardy doubled and scored two runs while Anna Turner had two walks.
Jordan Russell pitched 7 2/3 innings and gave up seven runs on 10 hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
