The Newton County Academy softball team found the winner’s column last week with a pair of wins.
The Generals grabbed the first win in a hard-fought 14-11 win over Hartfield on Monday and then hammered Prentiss 14-2 on Thursday.
NCA only has one game schedule this week as they are set to travel to Sylva Bay on Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m.
NCA 14, Hartfield 11
The Lady Generals took advantage of six errors and 12 walks and used a big first inning to take a three-run win over the Lady Hawks on Monday. NCA broke open an 11-11 tie in the seventh with three runs.
NCA had 10 hits in the contest to go along with 12 walks. Gracie Humphreys was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored while Mallory Helm was 2-for-4 with two RBIs Jordan Russell doubled, scored twice and had two RBIs while Anna Turner doubled, walked twice and scored twice. Belle Hollingsworth walked twice and scored three runs while Cayden Alexander also had two walks.
Lilly Hollingsworth pitched all seven innings for NCA to pick up the win.
NCA 14, Prentiss 2
Gracie Humphreys was 2-for-4 with a double while Belle Hollingsworth doubled and drove in two runs. Mallory Helm walked twice and scored two runs while Ashlyn Mathis also had two walks. Mary Kate Hardy singled, drove in a run and scored twice. Lilly Hollingsworth singled and scored three runs for the Lady Generals.
Jordan Russell pitched all four innings for NCA and picked up the win, giving up two runs on four hits while striking out three.
